20TH Century History (CHT3O)
This course focuses on events and issues in twentieth-century world history.
Students will analyse issues relating to the two world wars, the Cold War,
post-1945 regional conflicts, human rights, changes in everyday life, and
the problems facing developing countries. The skills and knowledge developed
in the course will help students understand and analyse the challenges facing
peoples, both historically and at the present time, in various parts of the
world.
Prerequisite:Grade Ten History (Academic or Applied)
Travel and Tourism (CGG30)
This course focuses on travel and tourism
as the vehicle for studying selected world regions. Using a variety of
geotechnologies and inquiry
and communication methods, students will conduct and present case studies
that develop their understanding of the unique characteristics of selected
world regions; the environmental, cultural, economic, and political factors
that influence travel and tourism; and the impact of the travel industry
on communities and environments around the world.
